Happy Sunday next before Advent! The AOC Sunday Report can be downloaded  RIGHT HERE ! We have excellent sermons today from Bishops Roy, Jack and Dennis, as well as Rev Bryan. Each one is quite different and I think that you will enjoy each of them equally.   Bishop Jack brings the propers together today.  His sermon can be viewed on video  HERE  ->   https://youtu.be/OuF2cE_HrE8 The Collect, Epistle and Gospel, today’s propers are all tied together.     As is usual, they call for action not just thoughts.     In fact, the collect is among the most direct, asking God to stir our hearts that we might ACT in a manner which will result in good things! The collect is asking for God to inspire us to ACT to produce those good works that will please Him. It is asking for God to assist us in our actions here on Earth to produce good fruits. And through those good fruits, God will reward us with gifts that are better than we could ...

Thanksgiving Day 2023 - Presiding Bishop Special Message

Image
THE PRESENTATION IS RIGHT HERE . Please take the time to listen to this very short presentation from Bishop Jerry Ogles, Presiding Bishop of the Anglican Orthodox Communion Worldwide and Presiding Bishop of the Anglican Orthodox Church of the United States of America. It's a very short presentation, but it will give you a lot to think about. As we come up on this Thanksgiving Day, we all need to reflect on precisely to whom we are giving things and for what.

Thanksgiving Day 2023

Image
23 November 2023, Anno Domini   Thanksgiving Day 2023   Our Anglican church in Heritage is based on a series of national churches. Before this this nation began, it was a colony of Great Britain. Amongst the first people here to settle here were the Pilgrims.  At the conclusion of their first harvest they established what became our practice of a Thanksgiving Day. When we give thanks, to whom is that thanks due? To some nameless, nondescript entity to the world in general? The people who established that first Thanksgiving Day, would tell you, without a doubt thanksgiving is due to our creator, to God Almighty.  Our founding our country’s founding document, the Declaration of Independence, avers the government’s power comes directly from our Creator.  Our gratitude must be to him.  If you look in the 1928 Book of Common prayer, on Page 36 you will find a prayer for our country. I ask you take the time to read it right now and thin...

Devotion on Hymns of the Church - Hymn 1 – Come Thou Long Expected Jesus – 21 November 2023, Anno Domini

Image
F OR  thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;  7  And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts.  8  The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.  9  The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts .  (Hag 2:6-9)               Today’s hymn is the first in the 1940 Hymnal since it represents the beginning of the Church Calendar. The Church Calendar is a rich spiritual resource since it observes every phase  of the life of our Lord Jesus Christ over the period of a year – among them, Advent, Christmastide, Epiphany, and Easter. In addition to hymns appropriate for th...

These are links to what Bishop Ogles calls a mini-sermon and what we refer to as a standard length sermon.     I have looked at them and I really like them.     It is divided into two parts for your ease of viewing:   Part One https://youtu.be/bDi154f62Sk   Part Two https://youtu.be/Ot5hgfhcOmA   The Twenty-Fourth Sunday after Trinity The Collect.     O  LORD , we beseech thee, absolve thy people from their offences; that through thy bountiful goodness we may all be delivered from the bands of those sins, which by our frailty we have committed. Grant this, O heavenly Father, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our blessed Lord and Saviour.  Amen.   The Collect M Y   little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:    2. And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole wo...
