AOC Sunday Report - Fourth Sunday in Advent - Christmas Eve

Image
Happy Fourth Sunday in Advent, which this year is also Christmas Eve! The AOC Sunday Report can be downloaded  RIGHT HERE ! We have excellent sermons today from Bishops Roy, Igor and Jack as well as Bryan. Each one is different and each one is absolutely wonderful.  Bishop Jack brings the propers together today.  His sermon is below the propers and can be viewed on video  HERE  ->   https://youtu.be/j8OUw1qIiZ0   As is oft the case, today’s propers all tie together to reinforce a point and build our understanding of what God wants and expects from each of us.  The Collect asks for God’s help for us to accept His Help and do it His Way.  It is oft supposed Christians are dour souls, with no sense of happiness or humor.  Perhaps this thought comes from those who have heard from others what the Bible says, but have never actually taken the time to read it and understand it. In the Gospel John recounts Jo...

In the Gospel John recounts John the Baptist’s role in preparing the way for Jesus.  The Pharisees were troubled with the simplicity of his message.  They were looking for something more complex, less straightforward, something more like themselves.  I found this sermon particularly ...

Christmas Greetings from the Anglican Orthodox Communion Worldwide - His First Born Son

Image
25 December 2023, Anno Domini (In the Year of our Lord)   Christmas Greetings from the Anglican Orthodox Communion Worldwide   His First Born Son   A ND  there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.  9  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.  10  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord .   (Luke 2:8-11)               The prophesied birth of the only Begotten Son of God was not an event of singular significance. It represented the new birth of millions from Abraham to those of us today who are privileged to be called the sons and daughters of God. ...

Bishop Igor Đurčik Bishop of Europe  Anglican Orthodox Church of Serbia Diocese We are very fortunate to have a sermon this morning from Bishop Igor, Bishop of Europe, and The Anglican Orthodox Church of Serbia.   Christmas 2023 HAVE YOU MADE A ROOM FOR JESUS? 25. December 2023, Anno Domini    A ND  she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.  (Luke 2,7)   Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,   A few weeks ago I started a trip to France. However, when I arrived in Germany - in Munich, it was snowing so much, that they canceled all flights for 5 days, even canceled the metro, trams, city and international buses. I couldn't continue my journey to France, and what's even more interesting, I couldn't even return home to Serbia. I had to find accommodation in Munich and wait to see what would happen. My searching for hotel accommodation was a real ag...

Collect for the Fourth Sunday in Advent - 24 December 2023, Anno Domini

Image
The Fourth Sunday in Advent The Collect.   O  LORD , raise up, we pray thee, thy power, and come among us, and with great might succour us; that whereas, through our sins and wickedness, we are sore let and hindered in running the race that is set before us, thy bountiful grace and mercy may speedily help and deliver us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with thee and the Holy Ghost, be honour and glory, world without end.   Amen.     H E  said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said   the prophet Esaias .  (John 1:23)               The previous three Sundays have been days of preparation for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ:   1.       Duty to prepare; 2.       Preparation by the Word (Holy Bible); 3.       Preparation by the C...

Hymn 285b – The God of Abraham Praise – 19 December 2023, Anno Domini (In the Year of our Lord)

B UT  without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him .  (Hebrews 11:6)               I have seldom heard this hymn sung in worship, but I would have hoped to have heard it sung often. This being the Season of Advent, we would profit to remember that promise made to Abraham of a Seed that would come to redeem Israel, and we are on the verge of observing the fulfillment of that Promise at Christmas. It was a work of God begun at Eden, confirmed to Abraham and the prophets, and fulfilled at Bethlehem of Judea. The Coming of the Baby Jesus at Bethlehem was God the Father’s Christmas gift to us – one that gives every moment of the life of the believer. There are two hymns by this title in the Hymnal, but I have chosen this one for its directness and simplicity. The composer of this hymn is lost in antiqu...

AOC Sunday Report - Third Sunday in Advent

Image
Happy Third Sunday in Advent! The AOC Sunday Report can be downloaded  RIGHT HERE ! We have excellent sermons from Bishops Jerry, Roy and Jack; as well as from Rev Bryan.  Each is different, each is great.   Bishop Jack brings the propers together today.  His sermon is below the propers and can be viewed on video  HERE  ->   https://youtu.be/QSXCN9-boeU   Today’s Collect reflects the importance of each of us as managers and stewards for Christ, that we might prepare the world for His second coming, and by the way, for the end of our time here on earth. In the Epistle Paul points out man’s judgment of us is nothing compared to that of God. God knows our heart, soul and mind much better than we do. In the Gospel, Jesus tells Paul tells John’s disciples that He is the One. Just as is almost always the case, the propers point of the need for action, not just diction.  I found this sermon particularly inspiring and hope you fin...
